‘Kinesis’, showcasing a hand-rubbed satin finish in an “aged” patina over a high carbon steel blade. With patience and precision, a bar of 1080 high carbon steel was forged into a fusion of forge-finished textures and brushed bevels creating a sculptural aesthetic, while its razor-sharp edge and symmetrical geometry deliver practical performance. A full distal taper and pronounced convex bevels allow for smooth, delicate slicing. Named “Kinesis”, from the Greek translation of “movement” or “set in motion”; paired with a handle hand-carved to create an otherworldly aura, heavily inspired by the fantasies of space and otherworldly life; mirroring that of an ancient relic of history…
Nicely weighted and comfortable in the hand, the blade balances just inside the finger groove. The blade holds a nimble rocking motion and comfortable grip, built for both artistic fashion and useability for environments such as working the hardened and sharp cutting edge in a culinary setting. The 10” blade is designed for comfort and control, crafted in Tristan’s Idaho studio balancing beauty with utility, offering a knife that is as functional as it is artistic.
Mokume
Crafted from Mokume- a centuries-old Japanese metalworking technique once reserved for ornate sword fittings—the handle evokes an idea of both ancient and otherworldly. Traditionally translating to “wood grain metal,” Mokume was developed by 17th-century craftsmen who sought to create the flowing beauty of wood through layered metals like copper and pure nickel. Sculpted into a form that feels alien in origin—organic, fluid, and textured like that of an organic matter, each ripple in the metal reveals the alchemy of the alloy. Designed to look like that of an ancient artifact, it is a creation of the vision of the unknown.
Included is a signed Certificate Of Authenticity (COA) and custom-forged stand for displaying of the piece.
